When difficult experiences from the past still show up in the present, in your emotions, relationships, sense of safety, or the way you see yourself.
Trauma doesn't always look the way we expect it to. You may have been through something clearly overwhelming, or you may simply notice that certain experiences from the past still seem to follow you, in your relationships, your emotions, the way you respond to stress, or how safe you feel with other people.
You might find yourself constantly on alert, avoiding certain situations, feeling disconnected or emotionally numb, becoming overwhelmed by reactions you don't fully understand, or wondering why something that happened a long time ago still affects you today. Sometimes trauma also shows up more quietly, through difficulty trusting, needing to stay in control, struggling with closeness, or feeling that you always have to protect yourself.
In therapy, we don't have to rush into the most difficult parts of your story. We can begin by understanding how your experiences are affecting you now and work at a pace that feels manageable. Together, we'll explore the patterns that developed around those experiences, strengthen your sense of safety and stability, and gradually work toward a life that feels less shaped by what happened to you.
An initial consultation can help clarify the best next step.
